Grant Application Process
The implementation of the HCHC Foundation Grant Program and funding health projects which benefit individuals and families is one example of how committed the Foundation is to improving the welfare of our citizens. Through this program, the Foundation seeks to support the development and delivery of important health related initiatives for the benefit of residents of Henry County and surrounding areas.
The Foundation funds projects in six health related priority areas: 1) Science and Technology, 2) Health Education, 3) Health Programming, 4) Workforce Development, 5) Workforce Recruitment and 6) Capacity Building. Those seeking funds should submit a Letter of Intent briefly outlining the objectives of the proposed project no later than 60 days prior to the application due date. 2011 Grant Award Winners
The 2011 Grant Award recipients are: Iowa Wesleyan College in collaboration with The REC Center for the development of a K-5 health and wellness initiative: Community Action of Southeast Iowa for updates to the Early Head Start program at Tolson Center in Mt. Pleasant; Girls Scouts of Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois in support of Power Up! a healthy living program benefiting girls throughout Henry County; and Henry County Public Health – Home Visitor Program providing nursing visits to moms and newborns. The Foundation presented nearly $8,000 to these organizations.

2010 Grant Award Winners
Family Connection –The Henry County Family Connection provides early childhood and family focused support and education for parents and their children, ages 0-5, who are striving to improve their health and well-being. This year a HCHC Foundation grant will provide 50 First Aid Kits to needy families and help fund CPR training for parents of young children.

Home Visitor Program – Healthy Henry County Communities - The Henry County Home Visitor Program is available to answer common concerns new parents have when bringing a newborn baby home from the hospital. An in-home visit and exam by a registered nurse is completed on baby and mother within 2 weeks following discharge from the hospital. The HCHC Foundation grant award will be used to help fund nearly 20 additional home visits to new Henry County babies and moms in the upcoming year.
2009 Grant Award Winners
Healthy Henry County Communities - Funds awarded to help develop a video to raise awareness of available community resources and increase referrals to those public services, allow viewers to understand the importance of creating and sustaining collaborative programs, and recruit new volunteers and financial supporters.
Young House Family Services, Inc. - Funds provided for the preparation and distribution of Health and Hygiene Kits for children placed in foster care throughout Henry County.
