Henry
County Health Center Named 2008 Most Wired Hospital
Patient Satisfaction Higher at
Most
Wired Hospitals
MT. PLEASANT — Henry County Health
Center has been named to the nation’s Most Wired – Small
and Rural hospital list according to the results
of the 2008 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study
released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health
Networks magazine. HCHC is one of five hospitals in
the state of Iowa to receive the Most Wired designation,
and this is the second consecutive year that HCHC has
received the award.
The 100 Most Wired hospitals show
better outcomes in patient satisfaction, risk-adjusted
mortality rates and other key quality measures through
the use of information technology (IT), according to a
new analysis. Marking its 10th year, the
Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study continues to
lead the field in analyses and benchmarking of
healthcare IT.
“This is a tremendous
honor for the entire HCHC organization. To be
recognized, for the second year in a row, for our
advances in technology reinforces all the hard work and
efforts of our Medical Staff and Associates,” commented
HCHC CFO Dave Muhs. “As we continue to look at
technology to improve patient satisfaction, to enhance
the quality of care we provide, and to support our
patient safety initiatives, this award validates that we
are not only on the right track, but part of an elite
group of hospitals that will transform the health care
system. Simply put, advancing information technology
permits our associates to be able to deliver a better
quality of care, in a more efficient or quicker way,
giving the patient better service and outcomes, in
lesser amounts of time, and in the most cost effective
manner possible. The real winner of the benefits of this
award is the community we serve.”
According to Rich Umbdenstock,
President and CEO of the American Hospital Association,
“Health IT has shown incredible promise in helping us
improve the quality and safety of the care hospitals
deliver every day. The results of the Most Wired survey
confirm that today’s patient also understands the
benefits of IT in improving care and improving the
overall hospital experience.”
The Most Wired Survey
is conducted annually by Hospitals &
Health Networks magazine, the journal of the
American Hospital Association, which uses the results to
name the 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems. It
focuses on how the nation’s hospitals use information
technologies for quality, customer service, public
health and safety, business processes and workforce
issues.
Hospitals & Health Networks
conducted the 2008 survey in cooperation with Accenture,
McKesson Corp. and the College of Healthcare Information
Management Executives. The July H&HN cover story
