The City of Mount Pleasant is undertaking a major infrastructure reconstruction project along Washington Street. Washington Street will still be open; however, traffic will be limited to narrow, two-lane roads, rough surfaces, as well as possible delays and detours.
In an effort to help you avoid the construction, here are the suggested detour routes to assist you in getting to Henry County Health Center:
Traveling westbound on Hwy 34:
For those who are coming from the east and heading west into Mt. Pleasant on Hwy 34, when you arrive at the first stop light at the intersection of Washington and Iris Street, turn right on Iris Street. Travel north on Iris Street until you arrive at Winfield Avenue. Turn left on Winfield Avenue and head west until you arrive at Broadway Street. Turn left and travel south on Broadway which turns into Jefferson Street. When you reach the intersection of Jefferson and Washington Streets, turn right on Washington Street heading west and turn left on White Street to arrive at HCHC.
Traveling southbound on Hwy 218:
1. For those who are coming from the north and heading south into Mt. Pleasant, take the first exit into Mt. Pleasant which is Iowa Avenue marked with a blue hospital sign. Continue traveling south on Broadway Street which will turn into Jefferson Street. When you arrive at the intersection of Jefferson and Washington Streets, turn right and head west, then turn left on White Street to arrive at HCHC.

2. Take Exit 45 into Mt. Pleasant. When you arrive at the first stop light by Wal-Mart, turn right on Winfield Avenue and head west until you arrive at Broadway Street. Turn left and travel south on Broadway which turns into Jefferson Street. When you reach the intersection of Jefferson and Washington Streets, turn right on Washington Street heading west and turn left on White Street to arrive at HCHC.
Traveling northbound on Hwy 218:
For those coming from the south and heading north into Mt. Pleasant on Hwy 218, right after crossing over the Skunk River Bridge, turn left on the Iowa Avenue exit. Continue north on Iowa Avenue which turns into Main Street. At the stoplight at the intersection of Main and Washington Streets, turn left and head west on Washington Street. Turn left on White Street to arrive at HCHC.
Traveling eastbound on Hwy. 34:
To get to HCHC driving on Hwy. 34 heading east, go through one stop light and turn right on White Street and proceed three blocks south. HCHC is located at 407 S. White Street on the right-hand side of the street.
