Lead Screening
is an important Public Health service as one out of every
seven Iowa children is lead poisoned—three times the
national average. Lead poisoning is usually caused by
lead-based paint found in homes built before 1960, about 69%
of homes in Iowa. Lead poisoning is the single most
preventable childhood disease.
