Volunteer Opportunities...
"I
expect to pass through life but once. If, therefore, there
be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do for
any fellow being, let me do it now as I shall not pass this
way again." William Penn
Volunteers at Henry County Health Center play a vital role
as part of our health care team as they provide personal
attention and information to visitors and patients who pass
through our doors. If you or someone you know is interested
in volunteering at HCHC, please call 319-385-6524.
Here are some ways our volunteers contribute their time and
talents to HCHC:
Information Desk
Volunteers
at the HCHC Information Desk provide the first, friendly
face to visitors who come through
the main entrance at HCHC. They offer directions to
those unfamiliar with our facility
and deliver floral arrangements and cards to the Med/Surg
nurse's desk. If you or someone you know would be willing
to make a commitment of a few hours each month, please
contact 319
385-6524.
Park Place
Park Place is a progressive long term care unit that has
espoused the Eden Alternative which has transformed the
facility into a home-like, active place where the focus is
on living a full life.
Call 319-385-6196.
Gift Shop
We are
looking for individuals to spend a few hours a month
assisting customers with purchases of unique gift items,
flowers, cards.
Profits
from the gift shop are presented to the Auxiliary to
help carry out their mission of supporting HCHC.
Call (319) 385-3247 to add your name to our list of
gift shop volunteers.
Maternity
Services
Do you like to knit or crochet? HCHC provides a hat to
all babies born in our Maternity Services Department to
keep them warm and cozy. The Auxiliary provides the
yarn and directions for any volunteer who is willing to
knit or crochet these baby hats. Call (319) 385-6125
for more information.
Lifeline
In existence since 1984,
Lifeline is a personal medical emergency response system
which allows clients the independence to stay in their home
longer than might otherwise be possible. The client wears a
button or necklace to press if help is needed. Volunteers
are needed to assist with installation and maintenance of
the units, as well as teaching new subscribers how to use
them. If you or someone you know may be interested in
helping with this worthwhile project, call Dan Berner,
HCHC Lifeline Coordinator, at (319) 385-3141.
Wellness Screenings
Volunteers
are needed to assist our Healthy Workplaces Coordinator with
screenings throughout the community. Help is needed to
check in, weigh, or serve healthy snacks to participants.
Call (319) 385-6739 to share your time and talents. |
