Join Henry County Health Center’s Emergency Department and the Iowa Donor Network as they team up to host an event in April for National Donate Life Month. On Wednesday, April 5, two programs will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in HCHC’s Health Education Center. The Brockway family will talk about how the tragic death of their 10 year old son gave promise to more than 120 people across the U.S. and Canada with his gifts of organ, cornea and tissue. This program is free to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend one of the two sessions.
Even though 130 million people in the United States have registered as organ donors, there is still a great need for donors as 118,463 people are waiting for an organ. The month of April, designated as National Donate Life Month, is the ideal time to learn more about organ donation.
National Donate Life Month (NDLM) was instituted by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations in 2003. Celebrated in April each year, NDLM features an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to celebrate those who have saved lives through the gift of donation.
In addition to the April 5th presentations, be sure to check out HCHC’s Facebook page throughout April at www.facebook.com/henrycountyhealthcenter for more information on organ donation.
