HHCC hosts former Hawkeye Chuck Long and Live Healthy Iowa staff

Henry County Health Center | June 29th, 2017

Healthy Henry County Communities (HHCC) hosted a meeting on June 13th with former Hawkeye football player Chuck Long and Dr. Amy-Michelle Willcockson.  Long is now the CEO and Executive Director of the Iowa Sports Foundation which includes Live Healthy Iowa and Willcockson is the new Director of Live Healthy Iowa.  They came to talk to the HHCC board and other community leaders about the importance of continuing to work on the health and wellness of our communities.  They praised the commitment and work already being done in Henry County through Healthy Henry County Communities and Henry County Health Center and challenged us to increase awareness and participation.

Willcockson introduced the Active Iowa Index which measures participation in select Live Healthy Iowa challenges including the LHI 10 Week Wellness challenge, Winter Iowa Games, LHI 5K, Summer Iowa Games, LHI The Next Step challenge, and LHI Kid’s Fall Fitness Day/Healthiest State Walk.  Currently Henry County ranks #89.  The group discussed ways to better promote those events to increase participation for the county.  The Healthy Henry County Communities board will meet with Dr. Amy-Michelle and other attendees on August 1st to set goals for the county and discuss next steps to promote the Kid’s Fall Fitness Day and Healthiest State Walk.  Contact Kelly Carr at 319-385-6523 or carrk@hchc.org if you are interested in attending the meeting or learning more about how to participate.

Watch for more information about these challenges and help us to raise the ranking for Henry County participation! Pictured are HCHC Associates with Chuck Long.
