Hi everyone. Happy Holidays!
The health center has finished its recent renovation projects from the last several months. The Orthopedic and General Surgery Clinic is complete and Dr. Joe Tansey and Dr. Michelle Tansey have been providing services there for the last month. The new location and clinic is working out very well for their services. We have also completed the parking lot renovation for this year. The work was completed in early November, just in time for the wintery weather we have been experiencing. Hickey Contracting did a great job in completing the project. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we completed the renovation. This is phase one of a four phase, four year plan to have all of the health center’s north associate and south parking lots renovated.
We are also pleased to announce the completion of minor renovations for our new provider-based primary care clinic in Mount Pleasant. We anticipate this clinic (located in our Medical Office Building just off the main HCHC entrance), along with our clinics in Wayland and Winfield, to be accredited as Rural Health Clinics next month.
You may be asking what a Rural Health Clinic (RHC) is. The RHC program is a federal program helping to improve access to health care for rural communities. Participating clinics must be in an official Health Provider Shortage Area (HPSA) and meet specific federal guidelines. Henry County is identified as a shortage zone and our outreach clinics are eligible for RHC designation once the accreditation process is completed.
When approved, our RHC’s will receive from the federal government (CMS), cost based payment for services provided to both Medicare and Medicaid patients. This is important for the health center because the number of patients in our county on Medicare and Medicaid continues to grow.
All three of our clinics (Winfield, Wayland and Mt. Pleasant) will continue to provide high quality and compassionate services for the communities they serve. The Mount Pleasant clinic will include both primary care and women’s health services. The family practice/primary care services are being provided by Dr. Joel Ryon and Kendra Bonnesen, ARNP, FNP, CNM. Women’s health services are being provided by Dr. Michael Ryskin, Kendra Bonnesen, and Kari Payne, ARNP, CNM. Jessie Anderson, DNP, ARNP, provides services at Wayland, and Tess Judge-Ellis, DNP, ARNP, and Jessie see patients at the Winfield Clinic. The providers at all locations are now accepting patients. Specific hours of operation as well as clinic phone numbers for appointments can be found on our website.
The health center has now entered into an agreement with PerMar security to have security officers at the health center. A site supervisor has been hired and will be starting in December. The site supervisor will be orienting and onboarding to the health center over the month as we work with PerMar to set the foundation for how security services will operate at HCHC.
