Henry County Health Center’s Infusion/Chemotherapy Department provides cancer care that meets more than just the physical needs of our patients. Cancer is a disease that impacts lives emotionally as well. To meet the specific needs of cancer patients, HCHC has formed a Cancer Support Group.
Nurses from HCHC’s Infusion/Chemotherapy Department facilitate the meetings scheduled once a quarter in HCHC’s Health Education Center. Current cancer patients and cancer survivors, whether treated at HCHC or elsewhere, are invited to attend the support group. The purpose of the group is to provide a safe and confidential environment for patients to express concerns and ask questions.
The purpose of the support group is:
- To enhance the quality of life for people with cancer by providing information and support to overcome feelings of aloneness and helplessness.
- To help reduce tension, anxiety, fatigue and confusion.
- To help promote a greater tolerance of cancer treatment and treatment compliance with the support of others in similar situations.
