2016 HCHC Foundation Golf Benefit
Nearly 70 golfers took to their carts for the 8th Annual HCHC Foundation Golf Benefit August 10th at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. 18 holes later golfers and community supporters lined up for a delicious meal prepared by MPGCC followed by an active silent auction and a heated live auction. At the end of the day over $35,000 was raised to help fund programs aimed at improving access to care for southeast Iowa residents and fulfillment of medical provider needs. A special thank you to our Major Tournament sponsor Relay Health and dinner sponsor Pilot Grove Savings Bank. And thanks to the community and area businesses for making this year’s event such a success!

Pump It Up!
HCHC Foundation partnered with Pep Stop in Mt. Pleasant for Pump It Up! in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness. A portion of every gallon of gas pumped was donated to HCHC Foundation in support of the Mammography Program which provides free mammograms for qualifying women. Over 6,700 gallons of fuel were pumped that day! Fuel, t-shirts and lunch sales, tips, and individual donations totaled over $6,900. A special thank you to HCHC Associates and Foundation Board Members who volunteered. Also, thanks to the staff of Pep Stop and many associates and friends of HCHC who filled their tanks.
Boots ‘n Bling
Friends and supporters of HCHC Foundation had a rip roarin’ good time at the Boots ‘n Bling fundraiser on April 5th at Airport Road Winery. Guests were treated to a barbecue dinner, music by Humphreys Sound, and line-dancing entertainment. They also enjoyed bidding on authentic cowboy boots provided by local western outfitters and shoe stores. Proceeds of just over $7000 will benefit health projects supported by HCHC Foundation. “We want to thank our committee for their hard work on behalf of HCHC Foundation,” said Foundation Director Michelle Rosell. “Events like this are a lot of fun, but they take a lot of teamwork and community support to be successful.” Yee Haw!
Close to Home Campaign exceeds $2.0 million goal!
Our Close to Home campaign, held in collaboration with HCHC’s $15.8 million master facilities improvement plan, is now complete. Thanks to a multitude of community support and pledges, we exceeded our $2 million goal.
The campaign provides enhancements to the Surgery Department. Laboratory, Specialty Clinic, a modernized energy plant and Women’s Center in Radiology. But more than that, this project represents the collaboration and commitment of hundreds of area residents who understand the importance of keeping our communities healthy and our health center strong. The Foundation looks forward to the next opportunity where our communities can come together and achieve more great things.
Relay for Life
HCHC and HCHC Foundation partnered up for the 2015 Henry County Relay for Life at the Iowa Wesleyan College campus. Hospital associates, Foundation board members and area supporters showed their commitment to fighting cancer by participating in the 12 hour walk-a-thon. Cheers, smiles, laughter and some tears were shared throughout the beautiful day. Interested in joining a Relay for Life team next year? Give Mark Hempen a call at (319) 385-6541 or email Mark.
Partners in Care
At HCHC, we recognize that our activities and personal interactions with our patients and their families earn us their trust and respect. We also understand the value of hearing “thank you” from those whom our associates regularly care for and comfort. HCHC Foundation offers patients and families an opportunity to formally express their gratitude for the care provided by participating in Partners In Care. This program provides a meaningful way to thank a doctor, nurse, therapist, housekeeper or any other member of the HCHC team while honoring the work they do.
Partners In Care comment cards can be found throughout HCHC or by downloading the Partners in Care comment card here. We encourage anyone receiving care at HCHC to complete a Partners In Care card. Let us know how we are doing and how we can continue to make a positive difference in the care provided to you and your loved ones. HCHC- Care you Trust, Compassion you Deserve.
A Star is Born Baby Wall
We know there’s nothing that compares with the birth of your child. No matter how many times you experience the miracle of birth; there will always be anxious moments, unforgettable memories and unbridled joy.
To help your family celebrate this unforgettable moment, the Henry County Health Center Foundation has developed A Star Is Born Baby Wall. Stars engraved with the child’s name may be purchased by parents, grandparents, family members or groups of friends to honor the birth of a child at HCHC. Stars are displayed on the wall located on the second floor of HCHC in the Maternity Services Department.
All contributions received from A Star Is Born Baby Wall will support health initiatives of the HCHC Foundation. Such initiatives include equipment purchases, continuing education for our nurses, doctors and other health professionals, and community wellness programs. To order a star, contact Mark Hempen.
