Nutrition Education is available from a Licensed and Registered Dietitian who is also a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Elise Klopfenstein is a Clinical Dietitian with Henry County Health Center. She has been employed with HCHC since the summer of 2009. She received her Bachelor’s of Health Care Science from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. She completed her internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and received her credentials to be a Certified Diabetes Educators in 2009. She completed her Master’s in Public Health in the fall of 2011 from the University of Iowa.
The services offered by the HCHC Dietitian do require a physician’s referral. Counseling includes but is not limited to the following:
- Diabetic Meal Planning
- Heart Healthy Diet
- Pulmonary Health Diet
- Gastrointestinal Disease management such as Diverticulosis or Diverticulitis
- Weight Control (Lose, gain or pre-assessment for gastric by-pass)
- Reduced Sodium Diet
- Renal Diet
- Gluten Restricted Diet
- Healthy Balanced Eating (Youth through Adult)
