Hi everyone. Happy Halloween!
The health center is finishing up some of its recent renovation projects we have been working on over the last several months. Dr. Joe Tansey and Dr. Michelle Tansey have relocated to their new clinic location for their professional services in orthopedic and general surgery services. The new clinic location looks wonderful and should work very well for our patients and families we care for. I would like to thank everyone for their patience as we worked on this project. We have been working on the clinic since early summer and the work is now complete. We are now working on the area where Drs. Tansey and Tansey were previously located. This area is where HCHC’s new provider based Rural Health Clinic (RHC) will be placed. I will be providing a much greater update on the RHC in November. I would like to thank three partners who were key in completing the Orthopedic and General Surgery Clinic renovation: Frank Millard, the general contractor, Invision, our architect, and Modus Engineering, the engineers on the renovation.
We are also nearing completion on all of the renovation work on the parking lot. The contractors have completed their work on the far northeast end of the parking lot where HCHC associates park. They have now shifted to a section of the south parking lot on campus across from the entrance of Family Medicine of Mt. Pleasant. The health center is completing some additional patching of the associate parking lots over the last few weeks. It is our hope that all of this work will be done within the next two weeks dependent on the weather.
The last renovation item I will mention in this memo is the operational use of elevator D near the north end of the health center. This is the elevator most frequently used to access our Rehabilitation Services and Cardiopulmonary Rehab Services on the second floor. This project began a number of months ago. We greatly appreciate the patience of all of our patients, families and visitors while this project was worked on. We do know this project took a significantly long period of time. We are excited all of the hard work and patience has paid off. The renovated new elevator D is great and now works tremendously.
The health center has now entered into an agreement with PerMar security to have security officers at the health center all the time, every day of the year. We have begun working with PerMar to interview for a site supervisor position. The hope is this individual will be hired over the coming weeks and then will start their position. PerMar will then work on completing the hiring to fill the remainder of the security officer shifts throughout the health center. We will provide a further update on the implementation of the security officers in future updates.
As Halloween comes and goes, the Friends of HCHC will be having their Annual Soup Supper this Friday, November 2, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. I would like to thank the Friends of HCHC for all of their hard work in preparation and cooking to make this event a success. HCHC’s Kirsten Heerdt plays a key role in making the Soup Supper a wonderful dinner for you and your family. Kirsten works alongside the Friends of HCHC along with organizing all of the volunteers who make the event possible. Thanks to all of you who can attend! I have heard the soups and desserts this year are scrumptious! Proceeds from the Soup Supper go to the Friends of HCHC Health Scholarship fund.
HCHC is committed to enhancing the health of individuals and our communities, and this compassion extends beyond our county. HCHC’s Finance Division is hosting a Spaghetti Supper on Thursday, November 8, from 5-7 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Veterans Club with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Florida Hospital Association. Your free will donation will help Florida hospital employees who have been impacted by Hurricane Michael. We invite you to dine in to support this important cause, or take out is also available. The Mt. Pleasant Veterans Club is located at 105 S. Jackson Street in Mt. Pleasant. HCHC has a history of supporting our fellow healthcare workers in other states who have endured natural disasters of floods, tornados and hurricanes. In fact, a year ago HCHC hosted a spaghetti supper sending $2,080.35 to the Texas Hospital Association’s Hospital Employee Assistance Fund to assist employees whose lives were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Please help support this upcoming event to assist those impacted by Hurricane Michael! If you are unable to attend, but would like to give a donation, please call 319-385-6114.
